Halogen Light Introduction
Halogen lamp has been applied on automobiles since 1970’s.
The principle of light-emitting between halogen lamp and incandescent lamp is extremely
similar. Because melt point of halogen lamp filament is higher than normal incandescent
lamp’s, luminance of halogen lamp is also higher than normal incandescent lamp’s.
There are a lot of advantages of incandescent lamps. It is easily
produced and manufacturing cost is low. Luminance is easily adjusted and
controlled. Color is more accurate (Ra=100). But it also has
some fatal weakness, such as short lifespan, low light-emitting efficiency, and
low color temperature (2700-3100K). A halogen lamp remains all above
advantages. However, it has longer lifespan and higher light-emitting
efficiency.
A Halogen Lamp:
Halogen Lamp is the most basic and common auto
light at present. Halogen lamp has been applied in automobiles since 1970’s. Although
it is applied on a car for the longest period and cheapest price, the status
has been gradually caught up by HID and LED auto light. So many people replace
their halogen lamp right after buy a new car. The reason is they think halogen bulb is not bright enough.
Even there has been laser headlight; but halogen bulb is still used by customers. Why? Honestly speaking, halogen lamp is outdated,
but it still has many advantages. We do not need to look down on halogen bulb.
Advantages:
1.
Low manufacturing cost
2.
Color of low color temperature halogen light is a
little yellow. It provides better light penetration than HID in rainy and foggy
day. Thus, most fog light is used halogen light.
Disadvantages:
1.
Not bright enough is always been complained by
car owner.
2.
A little yellow light is not so popular with people.
3.
Although low manufacturing cost is good, but its
lifespan is relatively shorter than other kind of lights, such as LED.
