LED Fog Light

Automotive lighting system includes headlight, fog light, stop light and turn signals, dashboard icons, etc. Today, we are going to introduce fog light.

As its name implies, a fog light is the light signal that we use in rainy and foggy day. They may produce white or selective yellow light, and were designed for use at low speed to increase the illumination directed towards the road surface and verges in conditions of poor visibility due to rain, fog, dust or snow. Other cars or pedestrian can notice our car earlier so that it can decrease the incidence of accidents. However, fog lights cannot be used as daily light. In good visibility night, the bad influence of using fog light is no less than abuse of high beam lights.

LED fog light:

During the procedure of light emitting, LED light does almost not produce heat, it means energy conversion efficiency is close to 100%. It also has longer lifespan. To adapt harsh environment is the technical direction of LED lighting.

Advantage:

Heavy duty, safety, quick start, low power consumption

Disadvantage:

Price is higher than halogen bulb.

When we choose our fog lamp bulb, we should choose good light penetration bulb instead of high luminance bulb to install in our fog light. White light has bad light penetration. We need long wavelength color. Red is the best choice, but it causes severe visual fatigue on automobiles. Thus, the second best choice is yellow color. First, the yellow light will not cause strong stimulus to our eyes. Second, the yellow light has a longer wavelength, so it brings good penetration function in foggy day. Third, the yellow light itself is a warning light to human eyes. On the other hand, under the yellow light, drivers will unconsciously increase their concentration and avoid accidents. Yellow light can allow the drivers to find vehicles that also turn on the fog lights in the opposite direction. For above reasons, halogen fog lamps are still the mainstream.
